The Chief Financial Officer for top provider Light & Wonder, Connie James, will be stepping down from her role next month.
Connie James, who has been working with Light & Wonder since January 2020, was appointed CFO in October 2021.
James, who also occupied the roles of Executive Vice President, Corporate Secretary, and Treasurer, has taken this decision to pursue another opportunity outside the gaming industry.
Light & Wonder’s CFO will be replaced by Oliver Chow – the company’s Senior Vice President of Corporate Finance, on an interim basis.
Meanwhile, the provider is looking for their new CFO to replace James, and will be assisted by a leading search firm to evaluate candidates for the position.
Following the announcement, Light & Wonder’s CEO Matt Wilson said that Connie James helped transform the company culturally and financially, which led to growth, excellence in operations, and a “strengthened balance sheet”.
Wilson added that the CFO also helped Light & Wonder build a finance team that is both talented and deep, one which according to him will allow for a smooth leadership transition within Light & Wonder.
The provider’s CEO also commented on Oliver Chow stepping into the CFO role, stating that Light & Wonder is pleased and lucky to have him do so.
Wilson noted that Chow’s more than 15 years of experience in the entertainment, gaming and financial industries make Light & Wonder confident that Chow can continue supporting the company during the Board’s search for a new CFO.
Commenting on her departure, Connie James described serving as CFO with the Light & Wonder team as a highlight in her career, and noted how proud she is of what has been accomplished.
Explaining that the provider has scaled its business, evolved its strategy for allocating capital, and worked towards a stronger and more flexible company, James expressed her confidence at the provider being capable of more success.
Connie James concluded that she is now focused on making sure that there is a smooth transition over the months to come.
